UTS Global Announces
Enhanced Backup and Restore Software
for Linux/390 and diverse client platforms

Santa Clara, CA - January 17, 2005 - UTS Global, LLC, the worldwide leader in Unix® and Linux® mainframe operating environments, announces the availability of enhanced Backup and Restore Version 3.0 (BAR) for Linux/390 and selected clients including RedHat and SuSE Linux for mainframe and Intel platforms, Solaris and AIX.

BAR Version 3.0 enhances the browser based centralized control and monitoring; featuring setup of backup and restore schedules, tape management for virtual tapes, real time alerts and scheduling across all client and server platforms.

UTS Global's BAR is a set of programs that perform file and disk backup and recovery for Linux/390 and other platforms. With BAR Version 3.0 available now, users can copy disk data onto tapes, store it away on a regular basis, and then restore the data from tapes when necessary. Unlike backup and restore available in most Linux/UNIX systems, BAR provides an intuitive browser interface to ease administrative tasks.

BAR Version 3.0 supports backup to a variety of mainframe tape and drive types (such as 3480, 3490/E, 3590) and to the UTS Global virtual tape caches. Optional STK tape silo support is available for select tape silo subsystems. Client platforms can access the mainframe tape devices as if they are local to the client system.

BAR Version 3.0 has a special 2005 introductory program. To apply, send email to linux@utsglobal.com with your name, company and a phone number where you may be contacted, or call Dick Holic (408)496-4246.
