UTS Global Announces
Backup and Restore Software for Linux/390

Santa Clara, CA - October 29, 2001 - UTS Global, LLC, the Mainframe Linux/Unix Experts, announces the availability of Backup and Restore Version 1.6 for Linux/390 to protect against loss of applications and data.

UTS Global's Backup and Restore (BAR) Package is a set of programs that perform file and disk backup and recovery for Linux/390. With BAR Version 1.6 available now, users can copy disk data onto tapes and store it away on a regular basis, and then restore the data from tapes when necessary. Similar to Backup and Restore in most UNIX operating systems, this package provides a set of commands that allow operational personnel to perform various types of backups. The software is easy to use.

Backup and Restore Version 1.6 supports backup to a variety of mainframe tape and drive types (such as 3480, 3490/E, 3590) including the IDRC recording mode. Optional tape silo support is available for select tape silo subsystems.

BAR Version 1.6 provides functionality to support three types of Linux/390 backup and restore: file-by-file for full/incremental backup and restore of files in a Linux/390-formatted and mounted filesystem; physical region for full backup and restore of all the data in a partition of the disk; and image for full backup and restore of very large filesystems, where the filesystem is treated as a single object.

Backup and Restore (BAR) Version 1.6 Linux/390 is available now for first install program. To apply, send email to linux@utsglobal.com with your name, company and a phone number where you may be contacted.
